Hi all,

My 'Enter' button and 'Go' icons seem to be disabled in Google, Altavista and other search engines. I can type in the search box but hitting enter or go has no effect. I only get this problem in a user account, not the admin account, and it's doing my head in. The same thing happens whether it's from within the Google Toolbar or from the Google HTML page. I had an identical problem ages back but I can't remember how I resolved it.

Any ideas?

Sounds like it could be malware. what is now the default search engine.

Not sure that it's spyware. Spybot, Adaware & CWShredder have all given me a clean bill of health. Newsnow (http:\\www.newsnow.co.uk) is my default IE homepage and I use the Google toolbar for searching. As I say, it works fine in the admin account but not the User account (the wifes account), she has http:\\bbc.co.uk as the default homepage and like me the Google toolbar.

Could this in any way be related to HTML code in my user account? It seems strange that it works fine in the admin account but not in any old or newly created user accounts. I can't find anything on the net and it's driving me nuts.

OK, fixed it so I'm posting this in case anyone else runs up against the same problem.

HP advised me to reinstall the latest version of IE6 (SP1), here's the link...

User account now works beautifully :)

Glad to here your problem is solved. That doesn't explain why things worked differently in different accounts. You were still using the same version of IE. Oh well.
