Comment:

I have WinXP Home Edition and when I click "Search" I get an error message that says, "A file that is required to run search companion cannot be found. You may need to run setup." This only happens when I'm NOT connected to the internet. When I am connected it works fine. I looked on Microsoft's website and I found a patch but it says it's for if the problem occurs while Connected to the internet. But my problem is when I'm not connected.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

What happens if you disable the search companion? Open search, scroll to bottom and change preferences, without search companion.

Go to the Windows update site, they have a patch for that very problem.

An easy fix:

Error Message: "A File That Is Required to Run Search Companion Cannot Be Found"
