Right, i have two hard drives in my computer, a primary SATA seagate hard drive (160GB), and a secondary IDE maxtor hard drive (5gb). Recently, the computer crashed when i was using windows XP on the SATA hard drive, and everytime it boots up, it boots into windows 2000 (the maxtor hard drive). When i log into windows 2000, it doesnt detect the sata drive at all, and even when I go into bios on start up, the primary 'other ATA drive' which should be the SATA isnt detected.
Any input or solutions would be very grateful!
Thanks.

your bios does NOT detect the primary hard disk anymore, is that right?

well, check the cable connections, if that's to no avail, try the disc in another computer, if possible. could be a hardware failure, not so uncommon, the realiability of hard drives has decreased over the last coupla yrs.

is it an add-on card or are the controllers on-board?

reinstall the drivers for the controller

check the bios and see if it reverted to default settings and/or the boot to other device settings

the drive may have gone bad in which case it will not show up in any of the settings

Check all cables and make sure the card is seated firmly in the socket

hope that helps.
