Comment:

I recently installed a new driver for my ATI Radeon 7200 graphics card. After it was installed, my Internet Explorer will not scroll down the page properly.

Instead of using my scroll button on my mouse to advance immediately up or down the page 3 lines(as if I'm moving my eyes down the page fluently), it reloads the entire image in a downward "wiping" fashion. So everytime I move my scroll wheel, my web page will wipe from up to down the new image.

This is very irritating when you're trying to read something and scroll down at the same time, as it's extremely hard to do since you have to re-aquaint yourself to the image.

I've gone through all the options I know of in Windows and can't get rid of it. Any thoughts? Is it possibly an ATI card problem?

Thanks

My mouse wheel option was set at 3 lines, so I changed it to "one page at a time". This kind of fixed the problem, but not really.

Even when I use the down-arrow to scroll a page, it does this. Also, when I click on the bar on the right side of IE and drag it up and down to scroll, it does the same thing.

It's almost as if there are some hidden animations happening in IE. But it also looks, again, like the entire page's image must reload every time I scroll, no matter what method I use. Is this an FPS problem with my vid card and monitor?

I have noticed a small, almost clear horizontal line running up my monitor screen. Does that have anything to do with this?

thanks

What I meant by check what wheel is set to not how many lines...mine is set to WEB/WHEEL.it sounds like yours is set to F5.

Hope this helps

I don't even see that option under Buttons. I have the Microsoft IntelliMouse, the gray mouse with red trackball for the thumb.

I'm not sure if the Wheel is set to F5 though, b/c wouldn't that mean just refreshing the screen without scrolling? Or could it do both?

Also, I'm starting to notice this happening not just in INternet Explorer, but every program that runs.

Hi
If you can use the up and down buttons on your keyboard, and they work scrolling, then it is a mouse problem.maybe try reinstalling your mouse software, also if you think it is the driver you installed for the graphics card, try rolling back the driver.that is,if your graphics card worked before updating it.that is about the most advice I can give you.

Yes, the up and down buttons on my keyboard do allow me to scroll, but it doesn't stop the "wiping" effect from happening.

Are you using the drivers supplied with the installation disk? If so, they probably have updated drivers that you may want to install. http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/powered.html for current drivers list. This is most definetely a video card driver issue. Updated drivers should resolve this issue.

One idea might be to uninstall the video drivers and the card, then reinstall it using the native VGA drivers that comes with Windows. This will let you know if your problem really is related to your video card drivers.
