Script errors in Norton

My son has a computer down at college. He's been getting a lot of scripts errors lately. He was trying to run Norton Antivirus and anything he tried to do concerning Norton (scan, live update) caused script errors. It's possible Norton hasn't been working properly for two weeks although it says everything ok. He uninstalled/reinstalled Norton. But he says Norton doesn't seem to be doing anything. The people at Symantec said to reinstall the internet browser which we haven't done yet. System Restore was unsuccessful (it wouldn't work). And a few folders he wants to open and save, won't open. He downloaded AVG from and removed some viruses and trojans. Norton's still not working right and neither is System Restore. Should we reinstall the internet browser? Putting in the master disc and reinstalling everything (losing all files) is a last option. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

John R., there are LOTS of nasties around which disable Norton's in order to protect themselves from deletion. Recommend you run Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy as well (use both as they use different databases). There's also an online trojan scan that's worthwhile.

Spybot Search & Destroy: (be sure to get V1.2 or better)
