The horizontal settings on my Dell monitor is set to 100% in size but there's still a bit of a black border on the screen. Is there any way of fixing this? Also, all my icons are more detailed (shadows, etc.), how do I put it on less detail?

The screen resolution is 1024 by 768.

Cheers.

Hi ... First off 100 is to much , you should lower that nymber , I know when you do this it will get even smaller but thats ok , What you need to find is the setting on your monitor that expands it , I would play around with your monitor setting to get full screen option , If you have your manual with you take a look at how to adjust screen setting , There should be a few buttons on your monitor to perform this , you need to understand how they work ...

I concur with RoadRunner regarding the high refresh rate. I have a new monitor and the highest I can get without tweaking it is 85mhz. If you exceed the manufacturer's default settings, you will shorten the monitor life.

I think you guys are misreading his post. He said nothing of 100Hz for a refresh rate, he is talking about the horizontal and vertical adjustment controls. He has set it at 100%.

There is nothing wrong with using 100% of the size. You might also look on your video card settings. Most video cards will also let you expand horizontaly and verticaly.

Hi ... No I didn't misread it , I know there nothing wrong with 100 but its probably not needed if Gearoid would just play around with his monitor setting controller , I would still try first to expand the horizontaly and verticaly before having it set at 100 , Better yet just apply them to your liken ...

Hi again .. I forgot to mention about your icons , I'm not to sure as to what you have done there but If you go back to the Display properties area and click the Themes tab , put your theme at Windows XP and click save , Also you might want to look at the " Appearance " tab I have my set at ( Windows and buttons ) Windows Xp style >>> ( Color scheme ) Default blue >>> ( Font size ) Normal , See if that helps , then afterward you can play around with them also to your liken too ... One last thing I would suggest downloading from microsoft site " TweakUI " it has some really nice stuff to playing around with setting and what not , here the link for it
