i cannot change the resolution nor the color settings
my resoltion is on 640x480 and my color is set on 8 (low)
i was also wondering that will using the file and transfer wizard from my home pc, and transfering the files onto the new xp computer change my setting and repair it?
i have no problem with the sound card, only the video card...

You need to install the video driver for your video card. You are using the standard default vga driver.
You do this by identifing the video card and then get the drivers off the video card cd or download from the manufacturers web site. In your case it may just be on the Sony CD.
The transfer wizard has nothing to do with your hardware drivers or video settings.

the only problem is that i dont have my cd... i misplaced it
and the video card is intel 82865g graphics controller [a-2]
i think thats the one
u r right about the vga driver
the reason of this problem is because i just reinstalled xp on that computer, and since then this problem has occured

Go to Sony's web site. Lookup your model. Find the link to the drivers. Download the video driver and install it.
