Hi. I have a problem where the install screen goes completely black when I get to the point "Starting windows XP" or whatever it is during the first part of the install process. I mean it does this right after it loads the installer files before I select my partition or anything. I find this strange seeing as I have installed XP on this system many times before with no problems at all. I also gave win2k a try and when I did that it said that it couldn't load the bootloader. I have a 1.1ghz athlon tbird, 384mb ram, geforce 4 ti4200, sblive, etc etc, but I just can't seem to figure it out. Somebody help me!

If you also have onboard video with the ti4200 try moving the monitor cable to the onboard video and see if it helps. Or go into the bios and disable the onboard graphics. If you have two video cards Xp's (and Win2k) setup will try to create a dual monitor setup and this can happen. If this isn't your problem I don't know what to tell you :(
Hope this helps,
Sandman

I only have one video card, but this problem seems to have started after I switched from a geforce2 for a geforce4. That's all I know.

If you formatted before you are reinstalling Xp doesn't know that there was ever a gefocre 2 in the pc. If you still have the old card and you can install xp with no problems with it I'd install Xp using that card. Then after setup is complete go in the device manager and remove the display adapter. Shutdown and install the new card and reinstall the the latest drivers.

=( I gave my gf2 to a friend. It just seems weird to me though that I can format and install 9x versions fine but not NT versions..could it be possible that tv-out and DVI out have something to do with it? I even tried installing through windows and downloading new setup files but it didn't change anything. I just can't put my finger on the problem.
