scannow not working

Trying to run scannow as system has gone a bit haywire recently. It keeps stopping and asking me for the correct xp cd even though the cd in the cd drive is the same genuine xp home cd that is on my harddrive. It IS an upgrade xp home and not the full cd. Don't know if that makes a difference. Although I can't understand how I can install the os on a hard drive but then it tells me it can't copy files from it. My cd drive is working fine by the way. Many thanks for replies.

See what happens if you substitute the Original OS CD for the Upgrade CD. Considering that its an Upgrade from another OS Scannow may just be verifyng the Previous OS. Not much different than when the Upgrade was first done.
Of course I could be way off base, but ????

That is 'very' strange Dave! Full XP or Update XP should not make any difference. Are you sure that it is really trying to read from the correct CD drive (if you have more than one)?

aegis: I only have the one cd drive. I've even changed the registry value to look for i386 in the C: folder instead of the dvd/cd drive and it still looks for the files in the dvd/cd drive. I don't know. I can see a re-install coming..........again. Thanks for the help anyway people.
