scanning for errors in windows xp

OS: Windows ME
CPU/Ram: Pentium 4 / 128 MB SDRAM

the windows 98 registry is checked for errors whenever 'scanregw' is typed in the RUN dialog box. but, the windows XP registry is not checked for errors since the OS does not recognise the 'scanregw' command.

how can one scan the registry for errors in the normal mode of windows XP?
