Installed a Epson 1250 USB scanner. Worked fine with the native xp drivers for this model. Upggraded my bios and via drivers now xp ( or computer? ) cannot see my scanner. Installed the latest drivers from epson and it still does not see the scanner. All the other usb hardware works. When connecting the scanner xp does give a sound that something is connecting on the usb port but the drivers in the system/hardware configuration states that no drivers are loaded for this device. Posted on many sites hoping to find a answer.

Thanks

You may have to enable USB in the BIOS since you flashed it.

it might be a hardware conflict
go to my computer, right click on it

look if there a !in yellow with your scanner
if so, right click on it uninstall.close the
device manager unplog your usb and plug it again. restart your computer. go to my computer to and see if your scanner is there.

Go into control panel/administrative tools/services and find WIA (windows image aquisition) and DISABLE this service. It has the habit of hogging the port which the scanner sits on from startup, therefore stopping any installed scanner driver from Epson from detecting the hardware atached. I have found that I had to re-install the drivers aain over the top and then DISABLE the WIA driver service AGAIN! it is a persistent little bugger. Check once again that it hasn't enabled itself upon reboot. If so DISABLE it again and it will get the message.
