scanner not ready

i downloaded bearpaw 1200cu from its website for winows xp. (took me 2 hrs). and now when i click on scan on the panel or any other button, it saus erroe in reading file and then it says scanner not ready.. wht do i do..please help

Is your scanner plugged in, Did you uninstall the scanner drivers before installing the new software, is the scanner installed? If it is saying "error reading file" there is probably some conflict between the scanner and the software
