after full install to xp pro my computer cant find my scanner..is it a driver problem it does not even detect new hardware it worked perfect in windows me .my system is nearly new pentium 4 1.3
256mb,60gh hdd, gforse 2 mx400.it has not been taken out of the usb port it was in before.i got a driver from the manufactors website but still no go ..this error message appears when i try to use it..SCAN MANAGER
scanner is not found please check the following
1 power adapter is plugged in the scanner connector
2 usb cable is properly connected with the scanner and pc
3 usb setting is enable in biosalso in problem devices this message appears
usb scanner usb\vid-0461&pid-0347\5&27448 the drives for this device are not installed
by the way my scanner is a primascan colorado 2600u flatbed fu66ie
can i put in the old driver from the windows me i had
any help would be very welcome

Go to your scanner manufacturer's website and try a windows 2000 scanner driver. I had the same problem after upgrading to XP. No action on the USB port until a Win 2000 driver was downloaded for my X83 Lexmark. Sometimes XP drivers won't work with the XP operating system. I hope this helps you. Good luck !

Do i uninstall the drivers ive already put in. why does the computer not detect new hardware. Or does it need the drivers for that

Yes, uninstall all drivers and programs for your scanner and then install the windows 2000 driver {if available)and try it to see if it works. My printer/scanner/copier first had a XP driver installed by Lexmark tech guys over the phone and after an hour and a half the Lexmark tech guy still couldn't get it working . They gave up. I later saw the Windows 2000 driver fix on the Microsoft XP newsgroup web site, tried it, and it worked.
