Hi to all,

A friend of mine who was using a MUSTEK 1200UB (USB) scanner under Win98 has replaced his PC with a new XP based one.

Unfortunately, the CD supplied with the scanner will install the scanner software only under Win95/98.

I found drivers for XP support on the MUSTEK site, but without application software, it's virtually useless.

What can he do ? thanks for any tip.

I think you are talking about the ScanTool box that come with the scanner CD.

For photo scanning you can use Adobe PhotoShop or Corel PhotoPaint.
Microsoft Word has OCR function which you can use for OCR scan and for document scan.

I have an old HP 4100C scanner. XP drivers weren't available for it when XP first came out. They are now. It shows up as a device in My Computer. When I double click on it, the Camera/Scanner Wizard opens and I used it to scan.

Maybe this would happen if you installed the Mustek drivers.

Claude B my brother has the same scanner, and to put it simply the software that came with it is not compatible with Xp, even settig it to win98 compat mode won't make it work. I basically told my brother to use MS Photo Editor which comes with Office, of course you can also use the scanner and camera wizard as Doctor1954 suggested. Or try searching in google for free image scanning software.

If this equals that, then why does that equal this?
