IT's hard to believe XP comes out and according to the driver database has 0 scanner drivers for any HP scanjet. Sigh. I knew I'd have some legacy problems--and so far, the increased stability is well worth it--but does anyone have any idea how I might get a driver for the Scanjet IICX? I dl'd the Win2000 driver, the computer didn't recognize it. Will HP release one? They say they're not supporting it any more. Will MS take the lead?

The folks from HP call me personally every day to tell me the state of their driver development. I know when but they told me not to tell you.

I met an HP rep in Staples. He said 'forget it' as far as reliable drivers available in near future... and was pissed off at all the complaints they have had to handle. XP has created multiple hastles for them. Staples here wants to sell hard drives loaded with ME as XP is great except too many complaints from customers on peripherals. Canon is even less prepared.

Stan, I hear Canon has tons of problems. How can an OS come out and people with relatively new printers can't get them to work??? Everyone's known it's been coming for some time. Printers are common peripherals....

Do you have to be a jerk? Take your sarcasm and shove it. Stop wasting bandwith

i had same problem with 6 month old hp-windows98(twain),common to almost any brand as far as basic design,do not work in xp-this comes right fron xp tech support.do as they told me,uninstall, hook back up with comp off,let xp see new hardware,it will download drivers from micro soft, mine works perfect.good luck

XP has made my 5100C scanner almost worthless. Gone is the Utility and Precision scan ability. It no longer can be used as a simple copy machine. Strangely, if using Photoshop or other programs that require input from a scanner.....well, there isn't a problem with that? Are there any other scanners out there in PC Land that work properly with the XP (eXtra Pain in the Butt)program??

This may help.
I got my 5P scanner to work with SYM53C416 SCSI card that came with the scannerUse the SCSI 2000 driver from this site for this card.
http://www.lsilogic.com/support/support+drivers/hpdrivers.html?agree=AgreeI installed Deskscan 2.9 by downloading sj166en.exe which can be found at http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/swdl.pl?c=sj166&i=sj166en&p=sj5ppc&n=hp+scanjet+5p+scanner+(PC+/+ISA)
