Go to My Computer, right mouse click on the C: drive icon, select Properties / Tools / Error checking / Check Now
Then put a tick in the first box Automatically fix file system errors. Then click on Start.
Read the next message and then reboot your computer.

In other words there is no scandisk. Scandisk was for dos based OS's like 98. NT based OS's use chkdsk via a cmd prompt. The automated GUI way above can also be done via cmd and typing chkdsk /f and answering yes to the question of can't lock the disk, run at bootup.
