SBC Yahoo DSL

OS: Windows XP Pro.
CPU/Ram: 500mhz P3/ 128mb

we recently got SBC Yahoo DSL and it worked fine untill i reformated my harddrive. now when i type in the first site i want to go to, after pressing enter to go there, i get a window that tells me i am vulnerable to attacks and if i want to download ad/spyware. it never asked before and i cant get it to stop. can anyone help me get ride of that enoying message?

Sounds to me like you're having troubles with spyware and popup ads. That there is probably just more of the same thing, so uh, don't click on it. I would try using something that is going to block pop up ads like google toolbar or mozilla web browser. In addtion to that, make sure your system is clean by running adaware which is available at (http://www.lavasoft.de).

i went to that site and downloaded Ad-Aware 6. i scanned my computer and it came up with 39 things. i recognize that site though. i got a Messenger Control program from them. thanks for the reply.

hi
sounds like after you formatted harddrive and reinstalled windows and orgot to turn off windows messanger.start>>settings>>control panel>>administrative tools>>services, scroll down to messanger right click select properties then hit the stop button and change it from automatic to disable should stop them.

i just checked services in administrative tools, and it shows its disabled. i stopped it from starting up at start up from running msconfig, and unchecking it in the start up menu.
