When my computer starts up the sbc yahoo dsl connection manager pops up and begins to automaticaly connect me, it says establishing PPPoE connection. The problem is that it takes a very long time and sometimes I just end task and then click on the connection manager icon. When I click on the icon it connects instantly. So Im thinking I need to disable the connection on startup. Is this connection manager necessary because I have heard you should use winxp's PPPoE connection. I have no idea how to do this though. Anyway I hope to get some help as I am new to this. Thanks guys!

http://help.yahoo.com/sbc/dsl/browser/ Try the update. And, when prompted it "IS". username@swbell.net use your yahoo password. try this once and once only, allow SBC to refill in the rquired info, much faster. After wards if you dont want the sbcmessenger just remove from add/remove programs and get the regular yahoo messenger. Or neither!

Well I downloaded the update but when windows starts it still takes a long time for the PPPoE connection to be established. When I downloaded the update there were two options: install browser and intall connection manager. I checked to install the browser but I did not check to install the connection manager although as I said above it still pops up at start up and takes a long time to establish. Thanks for any assistance you can give.

Hi again, What brand modem do you have Elaine? I ask because I use the 2Wire modem. It will work without any sbc/yahoo software at all. It does use an ethernet card. If you have a usb modem, please tell.
