SBC Yahoo DSL and Wireless

Ok, here's my problem. I have DSL hooked up to my desktop. The DSL Modem is also wireless network capable. On my notebook, if I set up my wireless connection, I can access the modem, but I cannot get access to the internet on my notebook. I tried installing the software that came with the modem on the notebook, but it cannot find the DSL Modem, even though I am showing a strong connection. It is 802.11b. I have the 2Wire Home Portal 1000SW. How do I get the notebook to see the internet, also file sharing/printer sharing.
