We got sbc dsl a few months ago and it was fine until a month or so. but now it seems slow. i just checked it with sbc speed test and it came up with Download-162.69kbps.,Upload- 110.02kbps. and when i upload a 3mb mp3 and the download was 21.5kb/sec. it used to be around 38- 40kp/sec. any ideas why it slowed down? thanks.

Dunno what you bought. If the speed test is what at least what you ordered then it is OK. When you go to non-speed test sites they may or may not be able to deliver the content at the speed you "might" get.

I think that your biggest issue would be "available" ram. You are showing 192 but how much is free to use? How much clutter you have on your desktop can sure eat up ram. Just so that you are fully informed, SBC service is notorious for telling lies, especially if they are working on the systems in your area.

unplugging the data cable from the modem or the ethernet cable? i have unplugged the data cable before. just recently accualy and it is still slow. would disabling my anti-virus and firewall help? i turned off just the firewall once and that didnt help. i will try unplugging again. Thanks for the tips.
