OK this question has been eating me for a while.

Say I have a zip file with a few files in it. I rename it to .html extension and upload it to a server. Now on my site, I link to it, but it is really a .zip extension. So is there any way to AUTOMATICALLY change the file name to whateveritwas.ZIP? Thanks so much!!!

That is, if I right-click the name and say Save Target As..., can I have it automatically change the file extension? thanks

Just curious why you are renaming it with an HTML extension. I never do this and have no problems, but you may be in a different situation. Although, I have had to do this when I'm inside a corporate firewall that filters zip files. Have you tried uploading as a zip file?

Just add .zip after the file name when you use Save target as. You won't be able to do it automatically. You could associate html files with with winzip, but I don't recommend it, especially since your a webmaster.

Question, why don't you upload them as .zip files?

Sorry, the HTML code would look like this:

Zip File

Hope this helps.

Maybe this will work.

Sorry, the HTML code would look like this:

a href="{path}file.zip">Zip File

Make sure you put the proper tag/close tag in.

Hope this helps.

I have a host that won't let me upload .ZIP files for some reason -- I have to change them to .HTML...STUPID!

I want to change the ZIP file to HTML extension, then have a link to the .HTML (really zip file though) file. When I right-click the link and do "Save Target As..." I want it to AUTOMATICALLY change it to a .ZIP extension instead of a .HTML extension. I wonder if it's possible.

Thanks,
