Simple question really - never understood why, when I opened a document to view it only and then closed it, that sometimes it says "Save changes" when I haven't made any. I always click no and let it stay the same since I don't know what changes it could be referring to. Anyone know? Thanks, Sharon

Well, it may seem like you haven't made any changes, when in fact you did. You may have accidentally hit the space bar once, or typed a character and then deleted it. You may have even typed something, and hit Undo. Windows recognizes the smallest things as "changes" to a document.

Sometimes if you have a date in the document that's in a field, and you have it set to automatically update that field, that's recognized as a change, especially if you print the document. And as Drew says, if you even breathe on the doc, it may register a change. OK, that's an exaggeration, but it doesn't take much to register a change. Even a page up or down could do it under the proper circumstances.
