I am looking for a way to drag and drop a file into a folder in Windows XP where I can be prompted to rename the file (Save As) instead of Replacing a file with the same name exists in that folder.

I don't think you will find a way to do that. However, I'm pretty sure you could open a command prompt window and do it from the command line using the move command..

Thanks for the reply, though not what I was hoping to get from my post. Seems simple enough, and its hard to believe there is not a way.

Third party file handling apps like Total Commander (shareware) offers you that choice if the file name exists in the target folder.
