Yes

SATA I = SATA/150 = 1.5 Gb/s [Maximum data transfer speed]

SATA II = SATA/300 = 3.0 Gb/s [Maximum data transfer speed]

Yes, they are equal since hard drives transfer speeds do not come anywhere close to the maximum throughput of either one (or even PATA).

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
