Have a new Dell with a SATA HD. Installed old IDE HD with a SATA to IDE adaptor. Enabled SATA HD 1 in BIOS. Still not seeing IDE drive on SATA HD1 port.
If I unplug the IDE from the SATA port, it complains that SATA drive 1 not found. So it seems to know that something is there. If I leave the IDE plugged into the SATA port, I get no errors on boot, but the IDE doesn't show up on the device list once I'm in XP.
What am I missing?
(I once heard someone say, "I'm glad there are so many different ways to do this, because most of them don't work." I agree ;) )
