sandisk card reader not working

Trying to use a SanDisk SDDR-99 card reader to read my Memory Stick Pro for digital images. insert it into USB 2 port, get green light on reader, inset card into reader and it does not show up on Explorer. What gives? It works on my PC but not on my laptop, and should not need any special driver according to SanDisk. Will appreciate any help. Noel

Does it show up in the device manager ? Does it show up as a removable drive or a mass storage device ?
If it doesn't show up anywhere and there is a yellow question mark in the device manager then try right clicking on the yellow device and uninstall it then reboot to safemode then test the device then reboot and test the device

HiIamBiGePaNtS, Thanks or your help! I found the card reader with a yellow exclamation point in Device Manager, uninstalled it, but it won't reinstall. Won't come in at all in Explorer or Device Manager, but will shut down and try later again today after a reboot to see if I can get reader to show up ANYWHERE! Noel

I rebooted and the card reader doesn't show up antywhere (not in Explorer, not in Device Mgr, not in tray) unusual!! I tested the USB port and it works OK. At a loss to figure why it doesn't show up... according to SanDisk web site, reader doesn't need a driver for XP, only SE. Any other ideas???
