Specs: Windows XP
I have a samsung cd rom sc 148a driver that won't load on XP. I'm getting code 39. What can I do? Others have posted the same problem in 2002 and 2005 but haven't found a solution. Is there a solution to this now?

Did you try this?

Create a restore point before editing the registry.

Please let us know if our advice was able to help you.

Below is a more detailed description of how to fix that issue.

Did you remove a burning program?

BTW, your hardware is called a CD drive, not a CD driver. A driver is a software program that makes hardware function properly.

Why are you using such old hardware. Your drive is a CD read only drive. Modern drives are CD/DVD writers. Are you located where hardware is hard to come by?

Yeah I know it is a drive but my problem is not with the drive but with the driver. It's an old computer but that is what I use when I am at my Dad's house.

I checked out the link you gave and that looks like exactly what I need. I'll create a restore point and try to see if it works.

Your reply trek, offered the same advice as Othehill's help except that the microsoft link Othehill sent says I don't need to delete the UpperFilters.bak file in the registry. I will give this a try though. Thanks!
