Comment: Hi, I have been having thin problem for over a year now. The safe removal no longer appears for my D-Link Wifi PCMCIA card. I checked for it to be disabled from notification area customization but it was set to always show... The icon appears normally with my Mp3 player and my external USB hard drive. It only doesn't open with PCMCIA card. It's becoming really annoying, I have to restart my laptop whenever I need to use wifi.. Some articles suggested checking some write caching checkbox in the device manager, but my pcmcia card had no such checkbox. I really need to solve that problem. Several articles started up the same problem but none had a solution.. Thanks in advance. Joseph

Reply: (edit)The Safely Remove Hardware function will only works with USB devices. D-Link Wifi PCMCIA card is not considered USB device. i_XpUser

Reply: (edit)i don't know WHY it disappears ... but here's a workaround if you want to 'safely remove' your pcmcia card: start > run ... now copy/paste the following and press OK RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll and up comes your ever beloved 'safely remove' dialog box :-) Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'icq 10183575
