greetings. my neighbor has one of theese E-machine generic computers, he has it on a cable modem and the local cable system went down last week for a couple of days but he also has AOL as a backup ISP so he had to change the option in tools/internet connections/connections to to use AOL. now the cable is back on so he changed it to never dial my default connection, that's where it's suppose to be for the cable modem to work, but for some reason the cable modem isn't working rite, so now he wants to change it back to dial the default connection. BUT something has gone haywire and puter will only boot in safe mode and the internet options is all shaded out so it can't be changed. I suspect maybe a virus, but I can't even find the scan disk option on his desk top. hope I havn't been confusing. any advice very thankfull...charlie

he can get a windows xp boot cd, and do a repair for xp
