safe mode is not working

My safe mode is not working i think it might be affected by virus n in startup it also gives an error msg dat "xvidcore.dll" is missing..
so plz help me to resolve dis prob. wid out formating

jitun2004, in case you DO have a virus, perhaps one of the online scans can clean it?
