hi,
I have been having problems with the Theme Player (so I can have a desktop theme while on AOL) in AOL 8.0. Today I received a run time error VBScript object required is viewpoint. I have uninstalled and reinstalled viewpoint countless times. Today I even installed AOL 8.0 Plus, hoping that would correct the problem and it didnt.

Does anyone know if or how I can fix this.

The other question I have is.....what is Debugging? what does it do? It had asked me if I wanted to debug and I said yes. When I clicked on the X to close the problem is asked me if I still wanted it to debug. How long does this process take and how will I know when its done

thanking you in advance,
Nanette

De-bugging is caused by a SCRIPTING ERROR.
De-bugging (i.e., Dr. Watson, for example)
trys to find the script error...you can turn off debugging on your computer.

Download Xteq 6.5, and turn off the debugger, for one. http://www.xteq.com.
This is a serious tweaking tool and is free.

Now, for the more serious aspect. When you start to get debugging errors, it can mean, that you have some malicious script on your computer, which could have been contracted by going to a web page with malicious java script.

Make sure you go to Windows Update and download ALL of the security updates there to try and fix any holes in XP which are being exploited.

Use a FIREWALL.

DO NOT use AOL Messenger, a GREAT WAY to get viruses, trojans, worms and malicious code.

Run Spy Bot and Ad Aware on your computer and try to remove the malicious code with them. Both are free downloads. Look them up using Google.

LMAO,

"DO NOT use AOL Messenger, a GREAT WAY to get viruses, trojans, worms and malicious code."

now how do you figure that? i've been using AIM for like 5 years and i havent gotten the slightest trace of any of those. the only way you could possibly get a virus/trojan/worm/malicious code from AIM is if...

1) you dont have any friends and when someone sends you a file, you accept it w/o knowing what it is, or
2)your "friends" arent much of friends because they send you the virus saying it was something else

thank you for replying. Im not sure what or how that program works. I am not good with the internal workings of the computer. As far as AIM, I have had it several years and have not had a problem with it as far as virus'.

thanx
