I have an old game, Malkari, that I'm trying to get going on my computer. Unfortunately, I can't even install it. Running the setup file in compatibility mode doesn't work. I would use virtual pc 2007, but I don't have a windows 98 cd. Does anyone know if there is somewhere I could download a boot disk, or does anyone have a better suggestion? I'm pretty much clueless at this point, so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

A boot disk for windows 98 can be found all over the web...Google is your friend! I just can't see what a boot disck will do to help you if you have not got the operating system installation disc.

Depends on the program. Might have to return a few files back to xp. autoexec.nt and config.nt. Might have to install with compatibility mode. Then also run in compatibility mode.
Dosbox is a common way too, not fully sure it would work with that game. Seems that plenty of crooks offer it online as a virtual pc machine with Win98 included or at least part of win98.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
