Running Windows 98 DOS programs in Windows XP

Specs: Windows XP
my dos programs is running perfectly in win98 but not in xp. are the config.nt and autoexec.nt to be changed ? if yes give with details :-

Depending on what program it is, you may have the best option running it under DOSBox:

Windows 98 was designed for full compatibility with 16 bit DOS and windows applications. The NT platform (including XP) was designed with different priorities and only well behaved DOS programs will run, and many are not.

Any changes to autoexec,bat or config.nt would depend on the specific application and the problems it is having.

Remember that Windows 98 had DOS as part of the install - it ran on it.

XP and later had no separate DOS, only a DOS Emulator (Command Prompt).
