I've been playing with IE7. I discovered two interesting but handy tips:
First MS have silently (?) added Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) to my System Tools folder (my Start Menu > Programs > Accessories > System Tools.) (FYI: the run command line is as follows: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff)
Once I clicked on it, the following will show up next:
Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons
All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly.
To continue to your home page, click the Home button.
To browse using add-ons, close Internet Explorer and then start it again.
Underneath the above are two links:
Check for the latest Windows updates (No add-ons mode)
and
How do browser add-ons affect my browsing experience?.
When I clicked on the last of the above two links, the following show up next:
Add-ons, also known as ActiveX controls, browser extensions, browser helper objects or toolbars, can improve your experience on a website by enabling content such as high-quality animations. However, some add-ons can also malfunction or display content that you don’t want, such as pop-up ads.
When an add-on, such as a toolbar, is installed on your computer, it becomes part of your browser and operating system. In some cases these programs might contain spyware. In the worst case, a malfunctioning add-on might affect the performance of your computer or cause problems accessing the Internet
IMHO the NoAdd-ons can be very handy in certain situation.
The other thing is the no connectivity MSKB. For IE7, IE6 "The page cannot be displayed" has been replaced by "Internet Explorer cannot display the Webpage

I should have read the Release Notes for IE7 more thoroughly: Here is what it stated:
If you are having problems with IE7 hanging, crashing, silently closing or other bizarre behavior, an incompatible toolbar or other add-on maybe involved. The fastest way to determine if an add-on is causing the problem is to run IE7 with no add-ons. You can do this by going to Start, clicking All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and click Internet Explorer (No add-ons). This disables all add-ons from loading in that instance of Internet Explorer. If the problem goes away, you can manually disable specific add-ons to find the specific one causing the problem. Below are instructions on how to manually disable a specific toolbar and a list of known incompatible toolbars that can cause serious issues with IE7.

LMAO!! MS has a built in fix for the thing before it is even released. I will stick with IE6. I at least understand the short comings.

this feature is known firefox users long time. not so well hidden in your start menu is the option to start firefox in safe mode (no extensions, plugins, etc.) ... so, this ain't exactly a microsoft inovation :-)
Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

Indeed it's a fact that M$ is never the innovator with browsers.
I think M$ could have simply classified "IE7 no add-ons" as "IE7 Safe Mode" just the Mozilla genius did.

I'm staying with Internet Explorer 6 too, Ralph. I tried it all day a couple of days ago and it did run fine; in fact it was faster than IE6 (for me, anyways..) Webpages loaded noticeably faster. But I'm quite comfortable with IE6 so I'm staying put for now.

Oops, my bad... I might have thought of the wrong XpUser; I think there is another similar name on another forum that I frequent; I got 'em confused... (I think..)

I cannot get IE7 to run WITH add-ons. Is it supposed to? If I go to tools, manage add-on is greyed out. IE7 does not restart with add-ons as I thought it was supposed to. I wish I had never downloaded it and find the relative help funtion to be useless.
