CPU/Ram: 2.6Ghz, 1gb ram

Can anyone explain to me what this RSS feed thing is all about? I seem to be noticing it on a quite a few sites now and I have no idea what it's supposed to be doing!

I'm sure I read this mattered somewhere so so you know, i'm using Firefox
