I read few notes in this forum on how to make easy CD 5 Plat. running on XP. Non of them worked on v.2600
The update to 5.02b can not see Roxio product and ECD 5.0 itself generates in events log "Faulting application creatr50.exe, version 5.0.0.306, faulting module creator.dll, version 2.0.2.352, fault address 0x000064fb"(No Direct CD, Take two installed)
Any hints?

I don't know what to tell you. I down loaded the update, not the XP one but the one they had prior and followed the instructions per Roxios web site and not one single problem, hell even a co-worker installed Take Two and Direct CD and still did not have a problem. I've loaded Roxio plenty of time's on my Xp box and never had a problem, well just a small minor one but that was my own fault.

Here is a cut & copy from one that I left. & yes, Platinum works perfectly. Follow this completly
How's it going? Adaptec sold Easy CD Creator to Roxio. The lastest verion is Easy Creator 5.0 Platinum & yes, they have just release an update patch for XP & it works perfectly! Lot's of great options, plus supports Underwrite Protection, kiss bad burns goodbye! Providing you burner supports that option. My Lite-On does, burn at 12x speed, while doing other things & no errors!
Here is the thing though. In Windows 2000 & XP you MUST do a custom install & do not select Take Two! It will cause you system to CRASH! Believe me, I found this out the hard way, & after talking to Roxio, they walked me through on how to remove it.
Please Note: during the installation of Easy Creator 5 Platinum, DriectCD might state that the drive is or might not be supported, do you wish to continue? Just say yes, it will when the XP is installed.
Follow this exactly. Remove older versions of Easy CD Creator, Reboot System. Install Easy Creator Platinum 5.0, do a custom install, unselect Take Two {if the option is there, Roxio is removing Take Two in furture releases} after installation it will ask you to restart, yes or no. Select no. Install XP patch. After installation it will as you to restart. Yes or no, select yes.
That's it.
Hope this helps you as well as others.
Take Care,
John

I tried all that on my system and still couldnt get it to work properly... now i am using nero 5.5 which is a much better product. I am using a sony 32x reader and a oti-socrates writer connected as master/slave on my secondary ide. For some reason, inserting a cdr with easycd installed causes my system to become unstable and eventually crash......

I did follow all the advices but still the same result i.e. "no qualified Roxio product...".
By the way Take Two and Direct CD worked fine on W2K.
Thanks anyway,
Sla
