At one time I had Roxio GoBack installed. Later I switched to Norton's GoBack - just a buy out I guess. I have XP Home SP2 installed. I tried to install XP Pro SP2 and was told that I couldn't do this because Roxio GoBack was still installed. Thru a program RegCrawler I located every instance of Norton and Roxio in my registry and deleted same. I tried reinstalling Pro and recvd the same message referring to Roxio GoBack. If I didn't have a number of files, programms, etc I would preform a clean install. That will be a last resort. Does Roxio go by another name that I could look for? Thanks.

What do you expect to gain by installing XP Pro?

FLATURIN - Hand-to-mouth goodness. It's good!

Same products I think. Symantec bought it.
Normally you use the add and remove programs. You might have to delete the file(s) that go back uses to save data. See symantec site if a tool is needed to fully remove the application.I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

"...Go Back is IMO a terrable program and totally unnecessary when using XP."
I have had problems with System Restore. Read the message boards. Everyone has. As far as it being a terrible pgm it has saved my neck a number of times.

GALEHICKEY
If you like the disk hogging program by all means continue to use it. If you are attempting to use BOTH Go Back AND System Restore I can see where you may have problems with system restore.
Your issue with installing SP2 is just one of many issues with Go Back. As the poster in response #4 indicated, formatting is probabaly your only solution.
Regular imaging of your OS partition is a better solution than either of the aforementioned utilities. You are still relying on the integrity of the HDrive.

I have never used GoBack and Restore together. Restore takes, I think, anywhere up to 12% of ur HD. Not sure about GoBack .... I imagine it is hefty also.
