I am trying to install Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 Suite software on my Dell XPS 400 computer. I have made several attempts at it. After it is installed, it causes my CD drive to be inaccessible and Windows Explorer freezes. I have used system restore several times to get the computer back to a working state.
During installation, it tells me to uninstall Sonic DLA (drive letter access). I have tried uninstalling it and leaving it intact but I still have the problem.
I noticed the computer came with Sonic/Roxio LE software already installed. Might this be causing the problems? Any other suggestions? I plan to contact Roxio and/or Dell but wondered if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks!!

Hi,
My personal opinion of Roxio software is that if it loads properly, it should fill your needs. However, if it doesn't, it can be a nightmare!
This is what I would do.
1. Uninstall the DLA software and do a search on any leftover files. If any are found, delete them manually.
2. Uninstall the Roxio/Sonic software and follow the same steps as described above relative to a search and manual delete of anything found.
3. Check the Roxio site and see if they have a removal tool so that you can get rid of any leftover files from a previous failed install of version 8.
4. And again this is my personal opinion, reinstall version 8 excluding the Drag To Disc function. These type software are problematic and can cause conflicts with other software you may have installed.
Good luck!
...if it ain't broke, then you ain't having fun...

or open up roxio than go to tool folder at top than go to options and than go advanced tap and uncheck the box that read, diable systerm auto detect..thats the problem...
when you think that you know it all! you know nothing
