I'm experiencing many event viewer error hits for Routing and Remote Access service terminated with service-specific error 2147483720 (0x80000048). For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/even...
And at that link, it says...
To display the service-specific error code in the Service_Exit_Code field, at the command line, type sc query service name. The information displayed might help you troubleshoot why the error occurred.
Problem is, my entering "sc query Routing and Remote Access service" merely opens the DOS window saying Error: Invalid Option. So what does one enter for the service name?

Begining to wonder if the cause for "Routing and Remote Access service" terminating is 'simply' because I only use LAN jack for my connection, don't have anything plugged into my modem jack, and that maybe this RRAS error stems from something inappropriately enabled on the os.
If so, I'm guessing to disable "Routing and Remote Access service" alone or (maybe if more appropriate?) disabling something like TCP/IP, etc. At least disabling RRAS should stop this particular event viewer error.
But I'll try removing TCP/IP from the installed services, then if no soap, disabling RRAS.
But still I'd sure like to know what it is about "sc query" that is preventing me from using it as I am frequently fidnding the DOS window appearing only for a second, absolutely not opening long enought to read anything.
I've even tried "sc query service.txt" and instead of 'invalid entry' the DOS window opens a microsoft split second, plus nowhere on my system is the a document for services.txt.
Beginning to wonder if there's something I need to 'refresh' DOS.
If the RRAS error is from something so basic, unbelievable that days researching the error, doesn't come up with something like 'Event ID 7036 occurs when TCP/IP is configured and no line is connected to modem'.

Well, no sc query advice, so experimented by disabling RRAS and QoS RSVP too.
The Windows event log bugs me in more ways than one. Can't recall ever finding a workable solution (one not requiring a Masters degree in computer technology) resolving event log alerts.
I mean MS all but makes absolutely no effort to provide meaningful support (in common english, aka "viable directions" for trouble shooting) to users who don't have the least desire to become 'geeks' (no offense intended).
