I got myself an SMC router but it cannot stop lagging. ive tried all but it keeps haveing 600+ spikes at random time every few minuts. i have messed with all settings and i have upgraded firmware but no luck yet. the lag is apperant in all 3 computers and different programs and is not a port issue. i am connected through cat5 cables but my other two systems are in wireless. if i run ping on a site on all three at once the lag spike/disconnection occurs on all at the same time. i have disabled this service called wireless zero conf. which is supposivly the fix since it scans for something every few minuts but it dident work and i also have diabled UPNP which also does scanning every once in a while but no luck at all. also the router firewall is disabled :s any help would be usefull at this point. thx in advanced :)

Hey Thx for the link i think i found the problem...but i cannot figure out how to disable wep.
this is wgat i got from the help, but my computer is the one that is connected through cat5 and not wireless in my network the other 2 are wireless and so i cannot find where to disacle this...
Windows XP SP1 changes the default behavior of the 802.1x authentication setting when used on wireless networks. Stricter enforcement under Windows XP, SP1 prevents attaching to a rogue access point. If 802.1x authentication (which must be used with WEP) is enabled under SP1, and no authentication packet is received after three minutes, the connection will be dropped. If you find that you lose your connection every three minutes, authentication may be enabled on a network that does not have authentication servers. Verify that 802.1x authentication is turned off if your network has no authentication server by following these steps:On your computer, right-click on the wireless connection, and then click Properties.
Select the Authentication tab.
Make sure that the check box for authentication is not selected....
thx
