Roll back WinXP SP3 to SP2

December 29, 2009 at 13:27:40
Specs: Windows XP
My computer originally has Windows XP Pro 2002 Service Pack 2. My computer is set to Automatic/Express Update. Lately some of my programs were acting weird - and some won't open. And that was when I noticed that my computer was automatically updated to Service Pack 3 which is not compatible with some of my programs. I am very pissed at this.

Is there a way to roll my computer back to SP2 without any issues? Is it even possible? What are my options? Need help bad.

"I am very pissed at this". Why are you pissed? You control the settings. If you didn't want to use auto updater then you should have changed the settings.
"My computer is set to Automatic/Express Update"

That said, you should be able to uninstall that update if you really want to.

What programs don't work with SP3?

Go to control panel> add/remove programs. Make sure the box to show updates is checked and look for SP3. Then simply uninstall.

... First try "OtheHill's" better method!

... you could also try "System Restore" << quicker than below.......... OR

... A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. It will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.

... Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties
Grrrr... ....more

I'm curious to know which programs won't run with SP3 installed.
