I've just reinstalled Xp Pro on my laptop due to me "stupidly" running as admin and "introducing" tons of spyware.. Anyway.. here's my issue (now running as a normal user.
All my family members have roaming profiles that reside on my DC and i need assistance with their profiles to be downloaded to this newly installed OS on my laptop (XP Pro).
I first got the error saying a "local profile could not be found and windows will log on you on with a temp and will be deleted when you log off".. Well I want my profile to be downloaded from the DC, where the roaming profiles reside. So i created a local profile for just me for right now, and while trying to copy down the profile when i log onto the Domain with my UserId i get the message now stating "the profile is currently in use.. blah blah blah."
well... i'm a little lost not.. the laptop successfully joined my Domain, i can log on to my LOCAL account onto the local box(using the same name as my roaming profile), but i can't just get MY profile to download...Any ideas? assistance.
Here's what i have
1) Windows 2003 Server as a Domain Controller with Active Directory
2) All XP Pro Boxes (3) of em
3) I can sign on to my roaming profile on ALL boxed BUT my newly installed Win Xp pro laptop...please help!! :)
Do I need to copy down the Domain copy over my local copy on this laptop or what? I know the Roaming Profile takes precedence over the local, so I'm not sure why it's not copying over the local..Thanks again...
