Using the sound recorder with xp you can play a wave sound file and if you desire you can delete part of a song either before or after a played section. I am looking for a way to play a mp3 and rip just a section out of it. I dont see any options of such a kind in windows media player. I only want to cut like a ten second section out of a mp3 and save it. Software for the job? Thanks.

very simple. Get nero if you dont have it, and open up nero wave editor. open up your mp3 and highlight the portion of the song you want to rip out. Copy it from the edit tab or CTRL-C and creat->new wave from the File ommand. Paste your selection into it and make it play to see if you have what you want. Experience with it a bit as it has a heck of alot of features.
