Not sure for how long...maybe the last couple of weeks i guess but anytime I right click anywhere on the desktop (to create new folder, view display properties etc.) the computer hangs. The mouse shows the hour glass and i can't click anywhere to get rid of it. I hit ctrl+alt+del and it brings up the windows task manager and I click on shut down - restart (usually twice) in order to restart the computer. Anybody have any ideas as to how I can get rid of this / fix this problem? It would be greatly appreciated as I have no clue what to do and would rather find out here than take it in to get it fixed if it's only a sinple thing.

Thanks!

PS. I can right click on folders and in programs...just not on the desktop...strange...

Windows Updates MS06-015 (908531) can give this effect with some Nvidia cards. I had the same problem and it disappeared when I removed the update.

Remove the windows update and the check to be sure your video drivers are up to date.

thanks for the help...I uninstalled the Windows Update (908531) andI do have the Nvidia card on my computer. I restarted the computer and waited till everything was loaded. I tried right clicking on the desktop and it worked. It took a second or 2 to come up but it works and it doesn't hang anymore.

Thanks Again!
