My PC is having serious problems due to a spyware program/virus that installed itself. Now I have tried deleting it with SpyBot/Bazooka, but it keeps coming back. I remember my friend once rebooted my PC so it returned to the screens from when I first bought it and such, but did not delete my home movies/music. While typing this it changed my font... and refreshed the page 4 times... I BADLY need help.

If you know how to, It would be MUCH appreciated!

First - a cleanup - download Spybot Search & Destroy
from the link http://www.safer-networking.org/
and update the definitions before scanning with it.
- install, update, scan and fix all RED items that Spybot finds.

Then download and install:
CWS Shredder http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Reboot when done.
Then download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip
Extract/unzip to a new folder; doubleclick/open the program HijackThis.exe,
make sure NO Internet Explorer windows are open,
and hit "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change
into a "Save Log" button.

Press that, save the log, do Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here in this forum. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, so don't fix anything yet.

Post the log in this forum.
Anything remaining can be dealt with here.

Hey
Find your XP disk and then click on start/run and type in sfc /scannow.
This puts files back to original state.
If that don't work do this.
Plan for reinstall, but it don't happen. It repairs.

1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.
3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.
4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

Don't wanna pop the balloon, but,
After installing a hotfix and running sfc / scannow, you may replace some files with older versions because SFC only knows how to retrieve files from the installation media and from Service Packs.

Starting with SP4, hotfixes will register themselves so that SFC will recognize them as valid file sources.

Prior to installing SP4, if you run a SFC command, you must reapply the hotfixes or you may end up with mixed binaries and unpredictable results.
