Dear Group:

I have a SCSI Plexwriter that I use all the time to burn data.

I just bought a copy of Retrospect 6.5 Pro and I get the following error when I try to do a complete backup of my C:\ and D:\ drives.

BTW, the Plextor is assigned drive letter F:\.

When I try to backup:

"Retrospect cannot use: Plextor CD-RW, ID4 becuase it does not have a drive letter assigned."

When I try to configure the drive using Retrospect I get this error:

"Sorry, no disc storage device found."

Now what?

Any ideas?

Thanks a bunch!

wayne

Have you tried assigning a different drive letter to your CDRW? this can be done by right clicking my computer, selecting manage, then selecting disk management.

Not much of a solution I know, but if it works............

Dear Hooner:

I changed the CD-RW letter to H: for Hooner but it still did not work.

BTW, I did reboot and tried after changing the drive letter.

Also, I noticed when Retrospect does the "Device scan..." It gets to "Checking Device ID4" and then I get the error message.

What do you think?

Thanks a bunch!

wayne

P.S. I checked the Dantz.com website and checked the help area but found nothing to help me.

Hmmm, I'm gonna leave this one alone I think Wayne. I just don't know anything about Retrospect to be able to help you.

Oh, one last thought, have you tried backing up to hard disk, and THEN copying it from hard disk to CD?

Dear Hooner:

I have not tried to back up the boot drive to another (slave) drive. I was hoping to create a backup set of CD's without backing up to another HD first.

If you happen to come across any new info then please let me know.

If you like you can email me wayne_russell@sbcglobal.net

Thanks!
