Retrieving Firefox Bookmarks

Comment:
My OS has been corrupted and I've lost access to several .exe programs, including Firefox. However, some data files still remain in the folders.
Does anyone know if I can manually go into Explorer and retreive my Bookmarks? And would reinstalling Firefox overwrite them?

Yes.
The bookmarks file is called bookmarks.html.
Retrieve this file and locate it in a temp folder somewhere. Reinstall firefox as you normally would, then go into your firefox folder (found in c:\documents and settings\aplication data\mozila\firefox) and delete the existing bookmarks.html. Copy your html folder into the firefox folder.
(there may be a subfolder within the firefox folder that contains the file in question.)

As long as the "chrome folder" is still there it will have all your settings including your bookmarks.

And yes should you reinstall Firefox, it will automatically pick up the chrome file along with the settings.
