Hi.
I've set up multiple user accounts on my PC, I set up a limited account for my younger sister and my parents and I share an Administrator account.
I want my little sister to be able to use the computer, however the computer has a lot of important data on it, and I was wondering if anyone knows any good programs I can download to restrict access to certain programs?
Unfortunately from what I can see, XP has no such features.
All feedback would be greatly apreciated! Thanks.

Lots of options. XP can make files in any given account private so they cannot be viewed by users of another account. Click Start Help and Support and type make files private in search box.
Also files can be ecrypted on the drive so it will require a user name password combo to access these files. NTFS file structure required.
I am sure there is more options within XP. Stay tuned.

Keep in mind michael is using the HOME-edition of winxp. This limits the options without thirdparty software i believe. I'm thinking of encryption for example.
Suggestion: programs like winguard pro 2005 can do the job: http://www.winguardpro.com/
This is the free version but if this is not enough there is allways the premium version that is not that costly: 19,95 USD single user license.
There are many other (not freeware) programs available. Search for "access management".I do my best, but is never enough!

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Software Restriction Policies
Then right click and make a path rule. Then when it asks the path browse to the programs you don't want them to run. Right click on "Enforcement" and choose, properties > everyone but the local administrators.
I think this is available in Home as well as Pro but I'm not sure.

HI domass,
I wish XP Home has Local Security Policy like XP Pro. In reality it is not included.
