Restoring Outlook

Sometimes when I click on the Outlook icon on the taskbar, all I get is a 'bong'. Then, I have to right-click on it and then hit restore. Sometimes, it maximizes, but most times it just gives me the bong.
If I alt-tab around to the Outlook icon, it will restore that way. Any idea what is causing this weird behavior?

Doesn't sound like an Outlook issue. Are you experiencing this same problem with any other applications?

Nope, just Outlook. BTW, what does the 'bong' mean? It seems like it signifies some illegal operation. I thought it might have had something to to with not enough memory, but sometimes it 'bongs' with nothing else open.

And you've rebooted? Does this happen for all accounts?

BTW, I am the admin and have another account with full admin rights. When I log in, I bypass the admin account and go directly to my other account. Initially I set up my computer so that everyone in the family would have a separate account, but it didn't work out well so I deleted the others.
My office program is kinda old as well: Office 2000.

Look at the Event Viewer and see if there are any errors showing there. The "bong" indicates that something illegal or not allowed has happened and it should be recorded. If this only happens in Outlook you can repair the program or remove and reinstall.

Teri,
thanks for the input. I did check the event viewer and there is nothing reported. It makes me wonder why it 'bongs' if I mouse click the icon, but if I right click the icon and select restore, it maximizes. Tomorrow I'll do a repair to see if tat fixes things. It's more of an annoyance than anything else.
