I want to transfer DOS files from a old hard drive that is in an old DOS computer - no mouse, etc. to a computer that uses WINDOWS XP. I can use MSBACKUP to transfer these DOS files to diskettes, but I am unable to use RESTORE when I try to download these files to the Windows Computer. How can I accomplish this. Thanks

You have first to transfer the DOS Restore executable from the old PC to the XP environment as DOS backup must be restored by its (version related) Restore program.

Beware don't overwrite a XP command with the same name if tere is one.

A better way is to use an archive utility as DOS pkzip/pkunzip you can find on the net or something like that (access the FreeDOS site). DOS archive utilities can work on both DOS and XP systems and can usually span more than one diskette.
